A man who was shot during protests in Charlotte Wednesday night has died, sources tell WBTV.
The man, identified as 26-year-old Justin Carr, was shot at about 8:30 p.m. and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney initially said he had died. The City of Charlotte later issued a correction, saying he was not dead but on life support and in critical condition.
City officials said the shooting was civilian-on-civilian violence.
Protests erupted following the death of Keith Lamont Scott, who was shot Tuesday while police tried to serve a warrant for another man. Police say that Scott walked out of his his car with a gun and was shot when he wouldn’t drop the weapon. Scott’s family have said he was unarmed and reading a book in his vehicle.
