2 dead in Florida club shooting, as many as 16 wounded

Another shooting has occurred at a nightclub in Florida. This time the location is the city of Fort Myers, and this time at an event was for teens. Two people were killed, one of them a 14-year-old boy, and as many as 16 are reported injured.

According to USA Today, Fort Myers Police received a report of gunshots at Club Blu around 12:30 a.m. Monday. When officers arrived on the scene, they found more than a dozen victims, some of them with life-threatening injuries, all of them between the ages of 12 and 27.

All the wounded were transported to local hospitals. Two remain in intensive care this morning. The other shooting victims have all been released.

The club was hosting a “swimsuit glow party,”  a local ABC station reported. So far, the motive for the shootings remain unknown. Three people are being held by police for questioning.

A post to the club’s Facebook page that has since been deleted, noted that “no ID was required because it was a middle school/high school event.”
