The Donald must really love his Slurpees. Or maybe his comments were meant as a repudiation of ex-New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s unrealized plan to ban the Big Gulp in the Big Apple.
Or maybe Trump didn’t mean to praise the brave men and women of 7-Eleven at all.
The GOP front-runner was at a rally in Buffalo, when he told the crowd:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
I watched our police and our firemen down on 7-Eleven, down at the World Trade Center, right after it came down, and I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action.
His misstep in referring to 9/11 as 7-Eleven wasn’t his only. As the New York Post observes, Trump also had praise for former New York Jets head coach (and current Buffalo Bills coach) Rex Ryan, who introduced him. Said Trump:
He’s a great, great football coach. You know he won the championships in New York, AFC, I think, twice.
In fact, Ryan won zero AFC championships during his tenure with the Jets organization.
Maybe, Trump’s problem was that he was subtracting two from any numerical references.
Anyway, here’s the video:
