These miniature works of art are admirable for their attention to detail, which makes them incredibly lifelike. Or at least they would be if they didn’t call to mind shrunken heads and voodoo.

They are the work of Russian artist Michael Zajkov, who has uploaded to Instagram videos of his craft and still images of the end product. One of the videos appears below, and watching the tiny disembodied human head seem to writhe in the artist’s hand is a little disconcerting to some people.

The Daily Mail explains that Zajkov learned his craft while working at a puppet theater and uses a special type of modelling clay, glass eyes, and French mohair wigs.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
