Millionaire guru induces 400 followers to cut off testicles; Indian government unamused

Multimillionaire religious “guru” Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh reportedly persuaded around 400 of his estimated 50 million followers around the world to cut off their own testicles to “bring them closer to God.”

Hold it right there. If you start to feel that archaic, holier-than-thou-style judgment come creeping into your feeling centers, squash it immediately. Who are you to judge these men? Their rich and powerful leader told them to cut off the most sensitive parts of their anatomy…what’s wrong with that? You can’t prove he was wrong. Don’t be a bigot.

This highly-influential celebrity guru is now under investigation by the Indian government for the incident that allegedly took place at a hospital that Ram Rahim runs. …

And that’s really cramping his style: the “guru in bling” has a new blockbuster action movie to promote (called “MSG: Messenger of God“). He can’t be tied down by such things as legal charges or accountability: he’s a saint, scientist, philosopher, peace activist, and “the ultimate humanitarian.” His website says so.

He’s worth an estimated £26m (almost $41 million). Which guarantees he is holier than thou; do your prophets make those profits?
