Rev. Al Sharpton joined a march in Hartford, Connecticut, on Saturday to protest the killing of five young blacks in the city over the past two weeks.
Following the march, Sharpton spoke at Shiloh Baptist Church, according to CT News Junkie:
“I want to be here to see a memorial for the young people that have died. I want the names and their stories up so children can see they don’t want to be on that wall.”
Sharpton asked all those in attendance to contribute $100 to his National Action Network to support the construction of the memorial, in response to a request from the previous speaker, who had asked all pastors to contribute.
One of those pastors, Marcus Mosiah Jarvis, shouted at Sharpton as he walked down the aisle of the church:
“How dare you ask the people of Hartford to give you their money! You’re nothing but a pimp!”
