Meet the feared cannibal monks of Varanasi who drink from skulls and feast on human flesh

The Aghori monks of Varanasi are feared throughout India. The monks live close to cremation sites and feast on human flesh, so it is no wonder that so many fear and avoid them.

The monks drink from skulls while they search for spiritual enlightenment.

An Italian photographer, Christiano Ostinelli, did something no one has dared before. Ostinelli went to live among the monks to photograph them and learn more about their lives. He shared eerily frightening photos of the monks with white painted faces, wearing beads and practicing their rituals, reports Capitolbay.

As part of their dark rituals, the monks live in cemeteries and feed upon human flesh. They chew off the heads of small live animals and then meditate on top of dead bodies as they search for spiritual enlightenment.

“There is a great mystery around them and the Indians fear them, they say they can predict the future, walk on water and do evil prophecies,” Ostinelli said.
