Devout Roman Catholic Rick Santorum: Sometimes it’s very difficult to listen to the Pope

Though an Evangelical Christian, I usually have many points of agreement with my conservative Catholic friends: sanctity of life and traditional marriage being two major precepts.

Granted, there are those public Catholics — Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Patty Murray, the late Teddy Kennedy, etc. — with whom I disagree on almost everything. In fact, I am puzzled that these folks bother to identify as Catholics when they oppose 2 fundamental beliefs of their church: life and marriage are sacred, the latter being a church sacrament.

While a religiously unaffiliated politician may still be a rare bird, there is another species on Capitol Hill that is even more endangered: the pro-life Democrat.
