Australian golfer Robert Allenby has reportedly been kidnapped and bashed in Hawaii, where he had been taking part in a tournament.

The 43-year-old was at a wine bar in Waikiki on Friday after missing the cut in a PGA meet.

The Golf Channel reported that Allenby was robbed, beaten and later found dumped 10 kilometres away from the bar.

He suffered significant facial injuries and was robbed of his wallet, mobile phone, cash and credit cards, according to the report. …

Allenby’s caddy Mick Middlemo, who was also with Allenby at the bar, said he was not with the four-time PGA tour winner at the time of his abduction.

Mr Middlemo told the Golf Channel that Allenby woke up groggy and with no memory of what had happened to him.

He was found in a park by a retired member of the military and returned to his hotel.

Allenby was in Hawaii for the Sony Open where he missed the cut after the second round.
