There’s a butt-skipping championship and Chinese student wants the crown

Gymnastics expert Yi Zhihua, 20, has become the number one challenger for the butt skipping title since launching his bid a few months ago.

The bizarre sport – where players bounce up and down on their bottoms while twirling a skipping rope underneath – has taken off in south east Asia since a Japanese athlete took the world title.

Now Yi is aiming to beat the world record of 166 butt skips in one minute and says he has nearly accomplished the feat during training.

He explained: ‘I’m up to 152 per minute – you have to get through the pain barrier but after that when your butt is numb you can really notch up the numbers.’ …

Yi – a student at Chongqing University – added: ‘The first time I tried this my backside was covered in bruises and blisters for two weeks.

‘It still hurts just as much these days but I seem to heal more quickly.’
