Airline employee charged with smuggling guns onto flight

A Delta employee has been charged with smuggling guns onto a flight, an Atlanta TV station reported Monday night.

Federal authorities are accusing a bag handler at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport of helping a former Delta employee smuggle the guns onto the plane. They say that the bag handler, Eugene Harvey, used his clearance to bypass security while carrying a bag filled with the weapons. He allegedly would then pass them off to the former employee in public areas of the airport.

The complaint says that he was arrested after smuggling 18 guns past security and onto a flight traveling from Atlanta to New York on December 10. Allegedly, some of the guns were loaded.

Delta told WSB-TV that company officials are cooperating with the investigation.
