D.C. hospital admits patient showing Ebola symptoms (Video)

An individual who traveled recently to Nigeria was admitted Howard University Hospital in Washington exhibiting Ebola-like symptoms, according to NBC Washington. A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed late this morning that the patient is in stable condition and being treated in isolation.

A medical team there is working with the CDC and other authorities. A statement from the D.C. Department of Health released shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday suggests that the patient was admitted that day.

Kerry-Ann Hamilton, a hospital for Howard University Hospital, said in a statement or her own:

In an abundance of caution, we have activated the appropriate infection control protocols, including isolating the patient. Our medical team continues to evaluate and monitor progress in close collaboration with the CDC and the Department of Health.

Further details about the patient have been kept confidential, citing privacy concerns, but said the hospital will provide updates as the situation warrants.
