The Council on American-Islamic Relations honored so called civil rights leader and MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton, as well as CAIR National Board Chair Roula Allouch and Reps. James Moran (D-VA) and Keith Ellison (D-MN)” will be honored at their 20th annual banquet in September.
In a 2012 speech at the same banquet, Shaprton referred to CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator with Hamas in the HolyLand Foundcation case, as “one of the most important civil rights organization in the United States today.”
Bare Naked Islam reported that CAIR National Board Chair Roula Allouch opened the banquet, which was emceed by New York Muslim activist, Hamas-supporter and Israel-basher Linda Sarsour.
“I would like to thank everyone who came to celebrate this milestone in the history of the American Muslim community by marking CAIR’s first 20 years of promoting justice and understanding,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “I extend my deep gratitude and appreciation for all the past and present staff, board members, volunteers, and supporters who helped CAIR grow and expand our work for justice, understanding, and equality.”
