GOP pro-amnesty PAC raises $0 in first quarter of CY2014

A prominent super PAC of key allies of President George W. Bush and failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney, formed to give Republicans who support amnesty legislation air cover, failed to raise any money during the first quarter of this year.

Carlos Gutierrez, the former Bush Commerce Secretary, and Charlie Spies, the co-founder of Restore Our Future, which was the biggest pro-Romney super PAC, formed the Republicans For Immigration Reform super PAC “to provide political support for Republican candidates” backing comprehensive immigration reform.

According to its Federal Election Commission report, which was filed on April 15 and covers the period from January 1, 2014 to March 31, 2014, the group raised no money during the first quarter of this year. It had just over $11,000 cash on hand at the beginning of the quarter and now has just under $1,700 on hand after spending $9,875 last quarter. The group also has no debts.

As Breitbart News has reported, Gutierrez, who has said that English should not be the official language of government, said the
group formed to “provide some intellectual cover to Republicans so that they can move forward without being politically hindered” in pursuing immigration reform and amnesty.
