On Monday, Mike Dickinson, a progressive Democrat running against Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., claimed on Twitter that Fox News lies and suggested the FCC monitor and regulate the cable network, Twitchy reported.
“Fox News does nothing but tell lies and mistruths. They have unqualified political analysts. We need FCC to monitor and regulate them,” he said.
“Fox News is basically a opinion channel. It’s there (sic) view of events. It’s not news. They lie and distort everything to fit their opinion,” he added.
Dickinson vented about Fox News for some time, attacking Sean Hannity and claiming the network lies. As usual, he did not provide any examples when challenged on the subject, nor did he say how, specifically, the FCC should monitor or regulate the speech on the network.
At one point, he tweeted a picture of a cat and compared it to Hannity.
“Meet chili. Never run for office or been on a staff. No degree. JUST AS QUALIFIED TO BE A ANALYST AS HANNITY (sic),” he said.
He also attacked the NRA, the Tea Party and of course, the Koch brothers.
“We need congressman who stand up to others. Fox News, the tea party, the NRA, and Koch brothers all need to get dose of reality,” he added, without explaining exactly what he meant.
He also attacked those who watch Fox News as “Foxheads,” then later whined about profiling stereotypes.
As it turns out, there really is a Mike Dickinson running for Congress, but one would be hard pressed to find out anything about him from his campaign website, which has a tiny blurb about why he is running and several forms for volunteering to help the campaign.
Aside from a donation page hosted by the progressive Act Blue, nothing on the entire site indicates Dickinson is a Democrat.
“I’ll be tweeting about one issue a day,” he said on Twitter, probably in an attempt to make up for the lack of information on his website.
