Two girls, aged nine and eleven years, and an eight-year-old boy, were allegedly chained to their beds and were systematically beaten, starved and raped on a regular basis.
There is mention of a fourth child, a girl aged two, however the child endangerment charges apparently only involve the three older children.
The mother, Bobbi Sue Pack, 31, grandmother Edwina Louis, 52, and the mother’s boyfriend, 44-year-old Juan Carlos Sanchez reportedly made a “house of horrors” for the children in Wheelersburg. In the home, investigators found ropes, chains and paddles which had been used to restrain and beat the children.
All the children have many scars and marks covering their entire bodies, according to investigators, that go to prove the abuse of the children. Allegedly they were chained to the beds naked, sometimes for weeks at a time.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s spokesman said that it was a “once-in-a-lifetime, a once-in-a-career case,” adding that it was “horrific, emotional and awful” for all involved.
Of the children themselves he said, “But those kids? They are so brave, and they would just warm your heart if you could see them. Thank God for their good little spirits.”
The children all attended an online school, and authorities only discovered the facts of the sickening abuse after one of the older children, who had finally had enough, emailed a teacher, telling her what was going on and begging her to call the authorities. The teacher then immediately dialed 911.
