It takes a special kind of stupid or lack of caring on the part of a pet owner to leave his pooch in the lamentable state that sheriff’s deputies in Jasper, Ind., found a Sheltie mix named Peanut late Monday night.
Peanut might have frozen to death in the sub-zero temperatures had an anonymous called not tipped off the police, according to station WSOC.
Stuart Wilson of the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office told reporters:
The dog, its stomach and feet and tail had frozen to feces that was in the pen. They took warm water and poured it over the dog to free it from the floor.
As a dog lover, I can’t imagine leaving a dog out when it’s that cold.
