On CNN Tuesday evening, Crossfire co-host and former Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter declared that Republican Gov.Chris Christie‘s landslide re-election represents a voter “rejection” of the GOP.
When asked by host Piers Morgan how she reads Christie’s double-digit Republican victory in a heavily “blue” state,” Cutter flatly stated: “I read it as a rejection of the Republican Party.”
“Huh?” you’re likely thinking. Well, here’s her explanation:
“If you look at what’s happening in New Jersey, Chris Christie ran not as a partisan Republican but really as a moderate,” she said. “And the thing that bolstered his number from the beginning was Hurricane Sandy, where he put politics aside and he got heavily criticized by the Republican Party.”
