Two women were raped Thursday night by a group of nearly a dozen teens in a Wilmington park on the city’s west side, police said today.
The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. while it was still light outside in Kosciuszko Park between the 600 block of S. Franklin and Broom streets in the Hedgeville community, Cpl. Jamaine Crawford said.
Officers were called to the park after receiving a 911 call for a rape.
When they arrived, they found two women, ages 24 and 32, who were taken to Christiana Hospital for the injuries, Crawford said.
A preliminary investigation suggests the victims were in the park when they were approached by a group of juveniles who sexually assaulted them and took off.
The investigation is continuing.
