[Ed note: This is a challenge that LU readers are more than up to]
As you may have noticed this morning, the federal Department of Health and Human Services is awarding a $30,000 pool of cash prizes to people who produce videos about Obamacare. One of the categories is musical. I’m not much of a musician, but for anyone who is, here’s my poem about the Affordable Care Act:
I had insurance all my life — each month I paid my premium
in case I got the flu or cancer of the mesothelium.
My work just dropped my coverage, but the boss says not to worry.
“Just sign up for Obamacare — and do it in a hurry!“
I filled out all the paperwork, it taxed my mental powers,
But I had lots of time because my boss just cut my hours.
I make less now, but pay less tax — I’m newly food-stamp eligible.
In all my life, I never knew that government’s so helpful!
