Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) — the only African American in the Senate — late Wednesday said it was “shameful” that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) used the “race card” when describing Republican criticism of President Obama.
Scott had previously condemned Reid’s comments, in which Reid said he hoped GOP opposition to Obama did not have to do with race. Scott expanded on those comments Wednesday night on Fox News.
“I can’t understand what he is thinking,” Scott said. “I do know that the unintended consequence when you pull out the race card when there is no racial issue on the table is that it sullies the ability for us to solve problems together.”
