Either it was a very small gun or a large “coochie” (to borrow a bit of colorful terminology from Paula Deen). Either way, 28-year-old Christie Dawn Harris was sentenced last week to 25 years in prison by a Pontotoc (Okla.) County District Court judge for having a loaded handgun concealed in her vagina during a drug bust.
According to The Smoking Gun, Harris entered pleas of no contest to three felony counts — one each for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, gun possession, and bringing contraband into jail.
Her rap sheet already includes multiple felony convictions.
Judge Steven Kessinger sentenced Harris to a term of 25 years on each count, with the penalties to run concurrently. He also ordered her to pay $1,363 in court costs and fees.
Harris was arrested in March after a drug dog sniffed and reacted to a vehicle in which she and another woman were seated. A subsequent search of the car turned up the meth, drug paraphernalia, a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol, and a loaded magazine.
According to an Ada Police Department report, while en route to the county jail, Harris told police “several times that she needed to go to the bathroom.” Upon arrival, Harris was told to lower her underwear so that a female officer could check for contraband. She demurred, advising “that she was on her period.”
But Officer Kathy Unbewust said that she could deal with Harris’s indelicate state, and the inspection went forward. Unbewust reported observing “a wooden and metal item sticking out from her vagina area.” She then “pulled the item from her vagina, and found it to be a 5 shot revolver with rounds in the chamber.”
Investigators subsequently identified the weapon as a Freedom Arms .22-caliber handgun, which was loaded with three live rounds and one spent shell.
In May, a Pennsylvania woman was arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine and heroin across the Mexican border into the U.S. in her vagina.
