Lean Cuisine ravioli recalled over fear of glass fragments

On Friday, Feb. 8, Nestle Prepared Foods Company announced a voluntary recall of two production lines of its LEAN CUISINE® Culinary Collection Mushroom Mezzaluna Ravioli, PR Newswire reports. The recall is being contacted on a purely precautionary basis after three consumers contacted Nestle to report that they had found small fragments of glass in the food.

The items affected by the recall have the UPC 13800-58358 and one of two production codes: 2311587812 and 2312587812. They also carry a “best before date” of DEC 2013. The production code may be found by first locating the gray “proof of purchase” panel, located on the right end flap of the package, below the ingredients list.

The recalled item was produced in early November, 2012. Owing to the product’s popularity, Nestle believes very little remains in retail distribution and is asking consumers to ask that they examine their freezer inventory for packages with the above-named codes.
